As you know know Dell XPS 13 is one of the best Ultrabooks on the market. I watched lots of reviews on Youtube before buying it. Unfortunately, no reviewer mention a word about the COIL WHINE on their videos. On this article I’m going to share a working solution to reduce or nearly fix coil whine of XPS 13 (9350, 9360).
So firstly I noticed coil whine while I was playing a game. This high pitch electric sound annoyed me a lot for few months. My XPS 13 made buzzing sound while:
- Starting windows
- Opening a software or game
- Even while scrolling a webpage
- While Playing 4K videos
Firstly I thought the sound comes from the speaker, so I muted it. But coil whine still appeared. So I researched on internet and found out that all most every XPS 13 has this problem. I was disappointed while I got to know that Dell was unable to fix the issue.
But finally I got a solution that really works(Both 2016 Skylake and 2017 kaby lake model). So I’m going to share it with you guys. Hope it helps.
Fix Dell XPS 13 Coil Whine:
- Firstly go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
- Click on High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)
- Mark on I accept to the above.
- Click on Next
- Now download the file from second line(64bits)
- Click on Global to download
Now install the software. Your laptop will restart and continue the install after that. You may notice coil whine after first restart. Don’t worry, after second restart you won’t notice coil whine.
As you know Coil whine is a problem of hardware, but software controls the hardware. All I have to say is that, coil whine will not go 100%, but it will reduce up to 80%. You won’t notice it on regular use, you may hear it only if you put your ear on the keyboard.
So guy, I hope this post will help a lot. Please share the post link or just copy paste the post everywhere so that XPS 13 users can enjoy their laptop without coil whine. You may also send this post to Dell so that they can give a software update to all users over the world. Thanks.
